Help Us to Identify New Job Opportunities

The Grandparent Autism Network is collaborating in a new project with the Regional Center of Orange County and its work initiative vendors.  Grandparents are acutely aware that our grandchildren will soon require employment opportunities which are not currently available.  Most of us have deep roots in our community and we can be valuable resources to identify new positions in the workplace for all people with special needs in Orange County.  Our volunteer recruitment for this program extends to the community at-large and includes people of all ages in the corporate sector, members of service organizations, parents and anyone who would like to support this effort.

There are many ways in which one can participate:

  • Anonymously recommend businesses and corporations to contact

  • Make referrals to contacts and give permission to use your name

  • Call current or former employers, companies or businesses where you have established relationships.

  • Accompany professional job vendors to meetings on-site with prospective employers.

  • Learn how to make personal presentations to prospective employers.

  • Reinforce and support companies that already employ people with disabilities.

  • Raise awareness that employing people with disabilities brings positive benefits to business and the OC community.

At a time when state and national resources are diminishing, this project could significantly increase support for the special needs population.  It is a pilot program that may benefit not only our community but could potentially benefit every community's efforts to employ people with disabilities.

Call or e-mail to GAN if you would like to help in this important project.
